"I am the right man to take over the Kasipul top seat," Edward Oloo speaks out.

"I am the right man to take over the Kasipul top seat," Edward Oloo speaks out.

As the residents of Kasipul prepare for the final journey of their late MP, echoes of political drums are already being heard from afar. Several politicians are already preparing their arsenal to get into the field and battle it out for the seat.

One notable name is that of Edward Oloo.

Edward Oloo is a seasoned politician, having started his campaigns to succeed Hon. Ong'ondo even before the latter met his untimely death.

Edward, who has a political background, is the son of the late Hon. Oloo Tula, who served as an MP for the larger Kasipul Kabondo. This already makes him a popular figure by just bearing the name and associating it with the politics of Kasipul and beyond.

Edward is a strong professional who believes that education can bring change to an entire society. He uses himself as an example of that.

Edward started his early education in Oyugis before proceeding to Wangapala Secondary School for his secondary education. After completing his secondary education, he proceeded to Kentucky University, where he got his first bachelor's degree in Accounting and also his CPA.

Edward has worked as an accountant as well as in the field of diplomatic relations with different institutions. He is also a staunch businessman in Homabay County as well as in the states.

With all these qualifications and a strong background, Edward still believes that as a leader, you have to be humble and serve your people diligently as their servant and not as their master. He says, "As a public figure, it's your duty to be the servant. You know you're elected to represent the people; thus, you should be taking their instructions more carefully than making decisions that you think will favor your subjects."

He also believes that as a leader, you must publicly show that you have all the qualities and can uphold the principles of good governance. He affirms that public participation, transparency, responsiveness, and accountability should be the parameters used to gauge a leader at the end of the day. He further said, "If I am given the chance to lead my people, these will be my fundamental guidelines for service delivery."

Edward has promised to help improve the education sector by bringing partners on board who will help complement whatever the NG-CDF will be providing. He says he wants to ensure that he bridges the gap between those close to power and those not anywhere close to it, especially when it comes to bursary allocation, school maintenance, and even building new structures for the schools in Kasipul.

He has also promised to help improve roads, electricity coverage, and farmers' support by ensuring the necessary actors are brought on board for insightful engagements and partnership building for a developed constituency. He says, "I will work hard to ensure we achieve sustainable development in the constituency, as this is the only way we will achieve dependence and improve our people's lives. Even if it means sacrificing my own resources, I will do it for my people."

Edward has also acknowledged strong competition from Philip Aroko and Dr. Newton Ogada. He says that the two have also covered a lot of ground with their campaigns and might have become darlings to the people. However, he is still very confident that the people of Kasipul will still give him major support since he has a people-centered agenda and also enjoys a huge support base.
